A Day in Japan: Maker’s Mess

Instructor: Stuart Hill

Location: CBBAG Bindery (180 Shaw St)

Duration: 1 day, Saturday Feb 8

Hours: 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Course fee: $95 members/non-members

Materials fee: Courtesy of George Hill & Co.

Prerequisite: none

Registration closes Wed Feb 5 11:59 PM EST

Start the day by trying your hand at Suminagashi (ink marbling). Spend the remainder of the day making various Fukurotoji (stab) binding books, utilizing the various sewing patterns.

There will be a wide selection of papers and threads available, so each book will be personal…maybe even incorporating some of the morning’s marbled papers.

A great workshop for someone who has never tried bookbinding or just as a tune up on skills

already learned.

This course is part of the Maker’s Mess 2020 series which focuses on making materials and exploring techniques for customizing the look of your books.
